World Youth Day Panama
The World Youth Day (WYD) is an event gathering young christian catholics from all over the world with the Pope in an environment which is festive, religious and cultural. It takes place every three years. All the youth, thus, can have an experience with the person of Jesus Christ, with His Word and with the Church, that summons them from the four corners of the earth to promote peace, unity and fraternity of the people and of the nations, through youth. This edition bares as theme: "I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word. (Lk 1,38)", and will take place from January 22nd to January 27th 2019, in Panama City.
Having been created as an initiative of Saint John Paul II, who wanted to animate the youth towards a new apostolic and evangelizer fervor, the WYD ended up being an experience which goes beyond the imaginable; and it could not be otherwise: just picture gathering various youth of the world, with their own cultures and languages, and with a sole purpose: the experience with Jesus!
Born, too, at Saint John Paul II's feet, the Shalom Catholic Community has its origin in the offer of life of a youth who wished to evangelize, with the Church, all the youth of the world. The WYD is then an opportunity for the Community to renew its vocation to bring Peace (Shalom), with the youth, to the four corners of the world.
